50th Reunion
Information
Thank you to everyone for
attending our Fiftieth Class Reunion. It was without a doubt
a tremendous success. Over 220 classmates, their spouses and
guests came to celebrate fifty years of being San Bernardino
High School Cardinals. A very proud bunch of once young men
and women, we set out to make our mark on the world, and did
we ever!
From the knowledge we gained from so many wonderful
teachers, we set forth on our journey to give back those
values and knowledge we were taught. Some of us stayed at home to
better our community, raise families while others went off to
further our knowledge of the world. We returned that gift
by teaching the youth of the world, helping others outside of
our community, defending our freedoms and allowing Freedom to
Ring.
With that accomplished, we
returned on October 4, 2008 to gather once again and celebrate
our achievements.
Because time moves upon its
eternal path, not all of our classmates could attend. To
those who passed on with God's help we all said a silent
prayer and said 'thank you' for letting us cross your path and
becoming friends and better human beings for the privilege.
For those who found their
way to the Arrowhead Country Club, there were big smiles, warm
hugs and lots of tears for just knowing friends who thought
enough of each other to be there regardless of what sacrifices
needed to be made. A true test of loyalty and camaraderie.
We acknowledged many that
night for their accomplishments but the evening's highlight
was when Ron Skipper introduced Ambassador Michael Guhin Ph.D. (bio). Mike, as
we known him was just plain
Mike, down to earth telling us that he never set out to be
what he is today, he said; "it just happened".
An event like this cannot
happen on its own. It took many classmates and countless
hours to organize this reunion. Among the many
volunteers who participated in the planning were four that
must be recognized. They are
Jena Wilson Eaves,
Wanda
O'Brian Skipper,
Lyn
Taylor Mullins and
Ken
Mummery .
The special Napa Valley Pinot/Chardonnay
Champagne which was served upon arrival was graciously donated
by
Janet
Cline Sasaki and her husband Tito. It was made
from their grapes. In addition, we must recognize
Joann
Wattenbarger Chalfont and her husband Dan for the hard work
put into the name badges and providing the picture/memorabilia
boards.
A
special acknowledgement must be given to the management and
staff of the Inland Empire's Arrowhead Country
Club for accommodating an ever growing number of guests.
Our guest count changed daily and they never faltered in
making room.
To
all of the above, a very heartfelt 'Thank You'.
